Barry Raynor, Jr. , a talented and passionate aspiring children's book author hailing from Prince George’s County, MD. With a heart full of creativity and a mind buzzing with imagination, Barry is on a mission to bring diverse and captivating stories to young readers around the world with his book series The Froot Troop.Growing up Barry drew inspiration from his surroundings, and his own experiences and cultural heritage. Fueled by a desire to fill the literary landscape with representation, Barry weaves tales that celebrate the beauty of diversity and empower children from all backgrounds. Using something that all would love our children to eat, Fruit.With a background in customer service, project management, and experience as a DBT Teacher in Washington, DC, Barry brings a unique perspective to his writing, infusing each story with authenticity and relatability. The Froot Troop often revolves around themes of identity, friendship, resilience, and the magic of discovery, resonating with young hearts and curious minds.When Barry isn't busy crafting stories, they can be found drawing characters and coming up with new stories to tell and educating children on new fruits for them to discover. Which further enriches his storytelling prowess. As he continues on his journey to becoming a published author, Barry remains dedicated to fostering a love for reading and learning among children, one enchanting story at a time.

MEET THE FROOT TROOP

The team's fearless leader and most optimistic of the bunch. He can always be counted on to show up just in the knick of time and motivate his team to victory. ALWAYS RELIABLE IN A BATTLE.

"Lemon", full name: Strawberri LemonAde, but she just goes by Lemon the team's brains and tech savvy genius. She also has the highest IQ in the entire Solarverse.

Sunny is the team's heavy hitter. He is the glue of the team when no one is seeing eye to eye. Without him the team would fall apart. He wears shades to hold back his tremendous power.
Our mission is to expand access to fresh, nutritious fruit in low-income communities by inspiring healthier eating habits through education, storytelling, and community engagement. Through the Froot Troop series, we empower children and families—beginning in Prince George’s County, MD, and growing worldwide—to build positive relationships with food, understand the value of nutrition, and make wellness a joyful, attainable part of everyday life. By combining literacy, philanthropy, and access to healthy foods, we aim to create lasting change that supports stronger families and healthier generations.

Author Barry Raynor, Jr. wrote this book driven by his profound concern for young children in communities where access to the right or enough fruits and vegetables is limited. Recognizing the crucial role that fruits and vegetables play in the growth and development of young people, he aims to influence their eating habits to combat diabetes and obesity, particularly in communities of color.
Having witnessed firsthand the adverse effects of unhealthy eating and how it degrades your quality of life in our coummunity, Author Barry has become dedicated to advocating for healthier diets for children. His passion led him to create a book specifically tailored for young readers aged 4 to 7 and 7 to 14, delivering a powerful message about the importance of healthy eating as you grow in life.
